The Basics

Sublimation

Sublimation is the transition of a substance directly from the solid to the gas phase without passing through an intermediate liquid phase. We use this technology to imprint or decorate an ever growing number of items or substrates. The process requires heat and is designed to work with polyester fabric and coatings. At approximately 400 degrees the dried ink (a solid) on our transfer paper turns into a gas. At that same temperature polyester pores open up. The result is a print that has become part of the fabric or surface coating.

The following is a few examples of things we can sublimate:

  • license plates
  • clipboards
  • dry erase boards
  • name tags (magnetic backs or pin backings)
  • coasters
  • mugs
  • monogrammed metal bracelets
  • door hangers
  • keychains
  • bag tags
  • and much more
